We brought Amber to the salon before going to Nex Playground today, there was not much big issue but still some stuff to be noted.
At the home salon, we put Amber out in the living room for awhile and she played well, she didn't feel awkward playing in a new place. Our hairdresser is always praising Amber to her customers as usual, kept telling them that Amber is a good dog that does not bark, she loved Amber and dogs but she couldn't get them because there are always customers that did not like dogs. Today there was one lady that was afraid of dogs, she didn't give any weird faces, she just told us that she is afraid of getting licked. However when we placed Amber in her carrier and let the hairdresser do our hair, our hairdresser suddenly asked if Amber was in the living room, she totally forgotten that there was a dog in the carrier. The lady also praised Amber for being a good quiet dog, we were proud of Amber, we are trying to let people who are afraid of dogs to give them another chance.
At Nex Playground, i walked Amber on leash as usual for 5 minutes before putting her off leash to play with the others. She didn't seemed interested in other dogs, she also did not want any treats, i could not figure out what is wrong with her, these 3 months when we bring her out she is just like that. But she still loves human, every time someone looks at her she would run over and paw them, we were really strict on pawing today, until the point she really gave up. Because she wasn't interested in treats, she wasn't interested in me at all, at some point she didn't even come when i called her to, this was another problem, dogs that are not interested in treats would be harder to train. I had to show her some dominance before she remembered i am her owner, when i asked her to come, she walked away, and i grabbed her by the neck and placed her beside me, she then listened afterwards. Amber definitely knows i am asking her to come but she disagreed, showing that if there is no treats she would not come, this is the time for owners to show some leadership when their dogs do not listen. We also saw a very badly behaved Dachshund, it was playing very rough, pawing all over other dogs and played bite, also barked at passer-bys, the dog scared Amber and she kept hiding. There was no aggressive behavior in Amber the whole day too, which is a good thing again, and she wore her clothes all the time.
Overall we were pretty disappointed with Amber's behavior at the playground today, she had some behavior issues, but it was much better than the last time, at least she came when i scolded her. On leash there was no problem, walking beside me all the time. I believed the spaying process removed her tendency to play at a certain level, i also think that because of spaying her scent was not attractive to other dogs anymore, but time will tell, she is still young and we are still learning during the process too! Tomorrow is time to go to the dog event at EXPO, do try to spot Amber there!!!
